Corey St John
In December of the 07/08 season I was selected to race with the TVDP in the National Junior Series which saw me pitted against the best junior athletes in the country at various venues around the country and overseas. I also gained selection to attend the National Development Camp which was open to 40 athletes from around the country. I went into my second off season with a renewed determination and with a long term goal of representing Australia at the 2016 Olympic Games. One of my main gaols for that season was to gain selection for the NSW All Schools Team that would compete at the National Carnival. At the end of the 08/09 season I realised that if I was to have any chance of realising my Triathlon goals then I would have to look at changing my coach, one who had access to the latest resources and techniques, something that is simply unavailable in regional areas. I contacted Mr Jarrod Evans who is the assistant coach of the Victoria Institute of Sport (VIS) Triathlon program and has is own high performance squad based in Geelong Victoria. I still have 2 years of racing left in the U19 age group and my goal for the 2010/11 season is to finish consistently in the top 15, or better, which I'm hoping will set me up for podium finishes in the 11/12 season, my last season in the U19 age group. It is also my intent to be in a position at the end of the year to gain selection into the VIS which will be the next step in my development.
