Dale Stevenson

Dale began throwing shot put competitively some nine years ago after a successful debut at an inter-school athletics meet. After teaming up with a professional throws coach, Dale steadily progressed through the junior ranks, claiming titles including Australian Schoolboy Champion in the U17 & 18 divisions and twice being Australian Under 20 Champion.

For the past five years Dale has balanced his intense training load with university studies, having recently completed a double degree in Sport & Outdoor Recreation and Secondary Education. Dale currently works for the Bluearth Foundation, running physical activity programs at two primary schools in Melbourne which he finds thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding. He hopes to complete his Masters in Education in the near future.

Following a very successful 2009/10 season and the achievement of consecutive personal best distances, Dale was selected to represent Australia at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, for which he is currently in the final stages of preparation. Further to this, Dale has been named a member of the Target 2012 Future Squad; his intention being to compete in 2011 World Championships in Korea, then the London 2012 Olympics.

Until then Dale shall continue competing in various domestic and international competitions, and training hard with a focus on improving strength, power and technique.
