Jimmy Johnsen
Jimmy began competing in triathlons when he was 17 for fun while he completed his eduction in Denmark. After joining the Army and being stationed in Bosnia, Jimmy returned to Denmark and to competing in 2003. After finishing 9th in the European Long Distance Championships in the same year, Jimmy decided long distance was for him and hasn’t looked back since. This also qualified him for the Danish national team which he is still a member of.
Battling Glandular Fever (or mononucleosis) took its toll on Jimmy and out of training and competition for 12 months but he bounced back in 2005 with a 2nd place finish at ETU European Long Distance which was the first of many podium finishes to come over the following years.
Jimmy now spends his time living part time in Australia and Europe racing.
