Nicole Fleming

Nicole Jean Fleming shouldn't be good at body boarding. Inheriting a fear of the water from her mother who almost drown in a dam as a young girl is not generally the making of a champion body boarder. "Some stuff like paddling out into water over head deep was a big step for me as a kid, because I had that fear of the ocean, but from the time I first tried body boarding, just jumping into the whitewash and riding straight to shore, I was hooked and just wanted to get better and better at it" comments Nicole.

And better she did winning the Women's Body board Division at the Australian University Game in her first year of her University degree. From here her desire to compete grew and saw her compete in as many competitions that she could get to, this would often include competing in the Open Mens division in Tasmanian State titles, due to a lack of female competitors. Her hard work and determination paid off in 2006 when she beat the state best male competitors to win the Open Mens division of the state titles. This was quickly followed by winning the Open Women's National Title, bringing Tasmania back it's first national title in the sport.

After graduating university with a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in Graphic Design and moving to New South Wales, Nicole once again put her full efforts into competition in 2009, winning two from the three events on the Australasian Professional Tour, as well as the NSW state title. In 2010 Nicole looks to further continue her success on the Australasian Tour, as well as push for top placing on the bodyboarding's World Tour.
