Nicole Ward
Since competing in the sport of Triathlon for just over 5 years, Nicole progressed quickly into the professional ranks within Australia, becoming the 2008 Professional Australian Long Course Triathlon Champion and a consistent podium finisher in Half Ironman and Ironman distance events across Australia and overseas, since racing as a professional. Her key achievement in 2009 was placing 2nd at Ironman Japan in a competitive international field, which earned her a spot to race at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.
Nicole was always very athletic as a child and competed at Australian National level for swimming and running over Cross Country and 800/1500m track distance events. After 10 years out of competition and racing, she took up Triathlon in 2005 and has never looked back. In her first season she placed 2nd in the NSW State Olympic distance Championships and 2nd in the NSW State Sprint distance series for her age group and she decided to make the jump up to the Half Ironman and Ironman distance events.
She had an extremely successful 2006/2007 season; winning her age group category in every race she entered in Australian Long course events and claiming the two elusive National Long course titles of Australian Long Course champion and Australian Ironman champion for the competitive 30-34 age group. In 2007 she qualified as a professional athlete and in her first season had eight top 5 results, including winning the title of 2008 Australian Long Course Champion.
As well as being a professional triathlete, Nicole also works as an HR professional for one of Australia's largest banks in Sydney.
